Execution-plan assertions backed by a database SPI, implemented first for PostgreSQL via EXPLAIN (ANALYZE, BUFFERS, FORMAT JSON) run inside a rolled-back transaction (ANALYZE executes the statement, including any side-effecting DML). Derives stable facts (usesIndex, avoidsSequentialScan, estimatedRowsLessThan, ...) from the plan rather than ever comparing raw plan text.
